Altmann, Gerard Altmann, geboren te Rotterdam in 1877 en overleden te Rotterdam in 1940 Altmann was een Rotterdams schilder. Hij was een navolger, in de trant van de Haagse School. Leerling van de Academie v. B.K. te Rotterdam van 1901 - 1904, en van Jan de Jong, Ferdinand Oldewelt en Jan Striening. Altmann schilderde veelal polderlandschappen met koeien en schapen, soms ook portretten, stillevens en interieurs. ============================================================= ========= English==== Dutch artist, Gerard Altmann studied at the Academy of Art in Rotterdam (1901 - 1904) pupil of Jan Striening and F.S.W. Oldewelt. He worked for Kortenhoef, painted the Nienwkoopse plassen, the Reeuwjkse Plassen and the Kaag (These are big lakes in Zuid Holland) He traveled to France. He is known as a painter, watercolorist, etcher and lithographer of landscapes,(also cattle). He also painted portraits, still-lifes and some interiors. Member of \"Arti et Amicitiae\" in Amsterdam. Teacher of C.K. Stokdyk.
